Description Tanu Kaskinen 2015-03-11 17:29:44 UTC
"pactl set-sink-volume somesink -5dB" will reduce the sink volume by 5 dB. What if the user wants to set the sink volume to exactly -5dB relative to full volume? That's currently not supported.

A suggestion: parentheses around the value could be interpreted so that the value should be treated as an absolute value. For example: "pactl set-sink-volume somesink (-5)dB"

should "-" only indicate decrease in percentage volume ?

No, I think relative adjustments make sense regardless of the unit.
