Created attachment 86494 [details] short video clip showing the bug When navigating the GUI within xbmc, eventually, I experience video tearing/elements of the GUI begin to flicker, etc. It usually takes 30-40 seconds to manifest. This is true when using the distro provided driver or the git version I just compiled. There are no log entries that complement this bug. Linux distro: Arch linux x86_64 Example video hardware: Intel GMA X4500HD Xorg version: 1.14.3 Drivers packages in use (official ARCH packages): * intel-dri 9.2.0-2 * libva-intel-driver 1.2.0-1 * xf86-video-intel-git-2.99.902.47.g63a81c8
Not sure if the bug tracker will accept this mp4 video, so file it hosted at this url: http://repo-ck.com/bench/xf86-driver-intel-xbmc-bug.mp4
That looks like a DRI2 invalidate bug, i.e. we will need to patch the xserver.
Running on debian sid (xbmc 11.0, X Server 1.12.4) seems fine.
Not sure what to make of that, Chris. Any chance you're able to test using contemporary versions (Arch Linux provides very recent binaries in the official repos and if you wish, we have PKGBUILDs in the AUR to allow you to build from git with no effort)? I just built xorg-server from git but am still experiencing the issue[1]. Note that I am using the git version of xf86-video-intel noted above. Thank you! 1. xorg-server git version is 1.14.99.1.215.g7d3d4ae and xf86-input-evdev version is 2.8.1.3.g0f16065.
Sadly, everything from the last 5 years is contemporary - one distribution or other is running that code and the driver needs to work with anything. :| Fortunately that machine is currently expendable so I can look at another distribution if building from git is not sufficient.
Were you by any chance using TearFree?
I have still not have not seen this, so is it still a problem?
No response, assuming that it is no longer an issue.
