Testing current Xorg CVS head I was hit by a weird problem. Xorg-server is crashing when firefox is in use. On some pages firefox cause xserver to crash for example www.benchmark.pl cause this problem (Not always) Firefox: 1.5.0.3 Xorg-server: CVS head from 19.05.2006 Radeon drivers: 15.05.2006 Kernel 2.6.16 Pegasos II machine with 1GB of ram and 1GHz G4 cpu. Radeon 9000 128/128/DVI/VIVO I can observe this when using XAA for now as I am unable to use EXA because a diffrent bug (#6811)

Looking at the log I noticed something new here. (EE) RADEON(0): Setting pPriv->adjustment to 0 I can't remember to have such message inthe past.
i think im possabily hitting this bug also but for me galeon/firefox just dies and x server is ok my setup is all xorg 7.1 and just updated the ati driver to git i find using gmail causes it to die as does the benchmark.pl url in orignal report the error below is all i get nothing in xorg logs or dmesg video card is radeon 9600 kernel 2.6.18-rc3 and 2.6.17.3 did same galeon is 2.0.1 using firefox 1.5.0.5 firefox alone dies also athlon64 desktop system is the computer 18:17:56: xEmbed supported in this Mozilla version 18:17:56: Gtk2+ supported in this Mozilla version The program 'galeon' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 22 error_code 8 request_code 145 minor_code 5) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
I used git bisect to track down my headache and found the below reverted it on head and I no longer have the problem I described 25a5ccb63a9e3074b4c8eaf48844877d84ff76bb is first bad commit commit 25a5ccb63a9e3074b4c8eaf48844877d84ff76bb Author: Michel Dänzer <michel@tungstengraphics.com> Date: Sun Jun 18 15:26:55 2006 +0200 Prefer visuals with stencil when it's hardware acclerated. (In reply to comment #5) > I used git bisect to track down my headache and found the below > reverted it on head and I no longer have the problem I described Weird, not sure why Firefox would care about GLX visuals. Are you using gnash or some other Firefox plugin that uses OpenGL? Anyway, it's unlikely that an X server crash and an app crash is the same bug.
yeah I do have gnash installed while I agree that it is remote the chance of the 2 of them being related I dont want to discount it yet as morgoth is using xorg cvs and I am only running -git of the ati driver nothing else assuming this doesnt help morgoth any should I open a new bug on my issue?
(In reply to comment #7) > yeah I do have gnash installed You could be hitting a gnash/Firefox bug then. > assuming this doesnt help morgoth any should I open a new bug on my issue? Yes please.
morgoth, does this still happen with the X server built against current Mesa CVS?
Again I doesn't get any e-mail about new posts here :/ Ech ... I am unable to reproduce this problem with recent server && mesa.
