If I change monitor and the sync settings is invalid I have to go to a virtual console and fix the problem manually by changing xorg.conf, I also have to try to find the correct figures somewhere on the net, and I also don't get any standard values. This is way to bad. If I compare with Windows, it's no problem to change to another monitor. At least I never experienced problems with this. So, it's possible to change this (if Windows can, of course Linux can, isn't it). As I see it, the way it should work is that the user gets a message that another monitor has been installed and a possibility to change the values of the monitor, giving guessed figures. However that is not how Xorg acts. I installed Ubuntu Linux on 20 computers over network and sent them to Romania, where we have a help aid work. Ubuntu is good 'cause much have been translated to romanian. Then they keep calling me about this sync problems. The best would be some kind of patch... Please tell me if this problem belongs to another system, like Gnome or Ubuntu. In that case bug is solved for your concern. Regards /Jörgen Lindroos
