For no reason, without doing anything particular, even without doing anything, Xorg freezes for a few seconds then restarts as if I pressed SHIFT-CTRL-BACKSPACE. Sometimes, the screen freezes, the keyboard becomes unresponsive, networks looks like to keep on working in the background but all I can do is to use the Reset button. Most of the time, no error is reported in Xorg.0.log, but only in kdm.log. Fatal server error: Caught signal 11. Server aborting My config: ATI Radeon VE/7000 QY (AGP/PCI) X Window System Version 6.8.1.902 (6.8.2 RC 2) Release Date: 12 January 2005 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.8.1.902 Build Operating System: SuSE Linux [ELF] SuSE Current Operating System: Linux tinbox 2.6.8-24.11-default #1 Fri Jan 14 13:01:26 UTC 2005 i686 Build Date: 13 January 2005 (Everything installed through orignal SusE RPMs.)
starting with the 6.8.99.14 snapshot, on linux systems, the X server can print its own backtrace when it crashes. please confirm that these bugs are still valid with 6.8.99.14 or later, and if they are please attach a the server log from the crash.
Well, it's been a long time since I post this bug report. Now I have X.org 6.8.2 final and it behaves as expected. No more freezes or unwanted restarts.
