While Matlab6 works fine. For Matlab7, no matter which WM I use, I get the same error and X crashes: This should not happen! An unresolved function was called! Fatal server error: Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support at http://wiki.X.Org

spyderous: Does Gentoo ship with X11R6.8.2RC1 already ?
Reporter: 1. Can you please attach the full Xorg.0.log file under https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?bugid=2271&action=enter 2. Can you try to use the "nv" driver instead of the "nvidia" driver, please ?
First, a quick explanation: Gentoo has three "levels" of packages: stable, testing, and hard-masked, the last of which takes a little work to install. I had 6.8.1.901 in the hard-masked state, and someone mistakenly removed it from the mask, so it's now in testing. Yesterday, I had a talk with that someone. I can't push it back to hard-masked at this point, so in testing it stays, to my regret. Summary: Yeah it's in, but it's not available by default.
First, nv driver doesn't help. Second, I figured out it is the java of matlab that is causing the trouble. With -nojvm option , matlab runs fine. Thanks. (In reply to comment #4) > Reporter: > 1. starting with the 6.8.99.14 snapshot, on linux systems, the X server can print its own backtrace when it crashes. please confirm that these bugs are still valid with 6.8.99.14 or later, and if they are please attach a the server log from the crash.
I am closing this bug due to the lack of inactivity. If the problem still persists, please reopen.
