Description Swâmi Petaramesh 2009-05-03 05:00:22 UTC
I report as asked by the error message I get :

« Mesa 7.4.1 implementation error: i915_program_error: Exceeded max temporary reg
Please report at bugzilla.freedesktop.org »

This happens while trying to run Half-Life 2 under Wine. The game starts loading then graphics crashes and I get this console message.

Graphics card is : Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

Machine running Ubuntu Jaunty with the following MESA packages :

Version: 7.4.1~git20090430+mesa-7-4-branch.a1ce4efe-0ubuntu0sarvatt

(From Ubuntu PPA)

Could you try again with Mesa master? I've fixed a bunch of bugs related to program limits on the 915, which may help.

On the other hand, wine may simply be trying to use a program that's too complicated for the 915. INTEL_DEBUG=wm dumping of it may help see if that's true or not.
