Description Yan-Fa Li 2008-07-09 14:07:18 UTC
Motherboard: Intel BOXDG35EC
Add2: Winfast Pegasus Dual DVI Card
Driver Version: 2.3.2
Distribution: Gentoo 2008.0
xorg-server Version: 1.4.2

Section 1.6.1.4 of the DG35EC manual claims that SDVO ports are redirected to the ADD2 card. I have a dual Dual DVI card. The 1st DVI port is recognized and the 2nd one isn't. The VGA port is active and recognized by the xorg server as it comes up. If this is a BIOS issue I'd be happy to file a bug against intel.

xorg conf

this is the new xorg.conf I tried to get the 2nd DVI output enabled.

Does this happen only with X, or including BIOS/kernel startup phase?

When you say "2nd DVI not recognized", do you mean that DVI always doesn't work even with another DVI disconnected, or this only happens when both DVIs connected?

You can use a normal (or even empty) xorg.conf for the experiment instead of the attached special one.

BIOS/Kernel only works with the 1st DVI. 2nd DVI is off when BIOS/Kernel boot.

I haven't tried with just the 2nd DVI connected. I plugged both DVI's into 2 monitors, and only the 1st DVI was recognized by X. The 2nd one appears to not be there. I was expecting to see a 2nd TMDS message in the xorg log file, but saw VGA and TMDS-1.

I will try with an empty xorg.conf tomorrow morning and post my results. Thanks for looking at this!

Could you try this? I'm suspecting if this DVI port is broken in hardware.
Comment 7 Yan-Fa Li 2008-07-16 09:33:44 UTC
Sorry, I meant to update sooner. I tried a fresh boot with only the 2nd DVI port connected to boot and the BIOS did not initialize the the monitor. If this is the only monitor connected is it supposed to init? It was brand new and sealed in the box. I haven't tried installing it in another Intel board yet, but I may try that next, if I can get hold of one.

Since XP on a different intel motherboard (DG31PR) doesn't see the the second port of the card either I'm going to blame the card and follow up with the vendor. Thanks for the help and sorry for the bug.

I have a Dual DVI ADD2 card, and shares the same pain as you. I haven't had time to complain it with the vendor, but I'll definitely be interested to your follow up with the vendor. Thanks.
