Everything seems to work fine in xorg but when I switch back to shell using ALT+... the screen blanks. Actually it seems one of the old virus, the one deleting word by word everything that was on the screen.

Yeah, I've seen this too on 2.3, but the problem goes away if I exit the server. Do you see the same thing?

Gordon, is this something you can reproduce & bisect? I was only able to reproduce it on my 855 after starting a full KDE desktop. If I start just twm & xterm then VT switch the fonts are fine, but after starting KDE then VT switching, the VGA fonts start disappearing...
"switch back to shell with ALT+" actually means "switch back to text console with Ctrl+Alt+F1", right? Lerui, can you reproduce this on 915GM with the stable driver 2.3.0? Try KDE. If fail, then twn+xterm.
Gordon, I'm able to reproduce this with stock 2.3.0 as well. If you try bisecting, you'll run into the LVDS breakage I introduced with the panel fitting merge, so you'll need to hand apply the LVDS regression fix during each bisect phase. Thanks, Jesse
Both startx & X+xterm+twm can reproduce this bug , when using 2.3.0 .

The LVDS breakage only impacts 855gm, not 915gm, right? On the other side, I remember we've validated VT switch ok on 2.2.99.902. Lerui, please bisect starting there.

Lerui, when you reproduce this bug (switch to text console), it might be unstable and you might wait for about 10 seconds. And also notice if the fonts are ok when switching back to X (kde).
I retested it on 915gm & 855gm, using 2.3.0, this bug can't be reproduced now, but when I switch from text console to KDE desktop, sometimes, its font is wrong draw.
Do mean the 2.3.0 branch? Can you capture a screenshot of the corruption you see when coming back from the text console? That may also match something I've seen...

Rocco, I can't reproduce the "text disappears" problem anymore, can you? If so, please re-open. Colin, please file a separate bug for your "KDE fonts gone on EnterVT" problem, if you still see it with the latest bits.
It runs fine on latest Xf86_intel_video master tip, as you know the 2.3.0 branch has been merged into the master.
