Disabling composite allows the X server to work. Of note, repeated starting of X server also hangs system (no backlight display, system still is responsive however this may be another bug though).

Please also attach the full xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log files. It looks like backing store may be enabled as well?

Yes, disabling backing store gets me composite when enabled crashes.
Comment 5 Michel Dänzer 2008-03-19 05:10:24 UTC
Adjusting title and reassigning to Adam Jackson, who rewrote backing store to use Composite.
Comment 6 Shawn Starr 2009-10-11 20:09:56 UTC
close it, please.
