Considering how it's failed, I would say the accuracy of our emulated scanline timestamp might not be enough. If this only happened once I would say monitor it a bit longer only?
On rc14 (latest drm tip), https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/9938311/ is merged. We no longer see this error: ERROR* Video mode command 0x00000041 send failed. Could someone please check on tip again to see if this message is seen?
This message is not seen. So I assume got fixed when changes were merged for that error.
