Does this still fail in the latest 1.4.x release (currently 1.4.12)? 1.2.x versions are only supported for security fixes now. There have been some improvements to file descriptor management which may have fixed this. I notice from the test output that you're running this as a user called 'qemu'. Are you running the build and/or tests in a weird environment, such as under qemu-system or qemu-user emulation of a different CPU architecture? If your setup is not the same as would be expected from a normal Linux system, please say so when reporting bugs! It's a regular Linux system; 'qemu' is a user ID I occasionally use to run QEMU, i.e. just an "alter ego". The setup is directory per target. If you need, I can attach a my autogenerated 'configure' wrapper clearly showing this. Created attachment 47885 [details]

Looks like for dbus-1.4.1 'make check' is OK - please see the attached screen output.
