"playing video closes my X session" issue even happens without compiz, right? It will be good to track that as a separate bug, so let's focus on compiz issue here. What's the kernel version? Please attach Xorg.0.log according to http://intellinuxgraphics.org/how_to_report_bug.html. Is there an older version driver getting your compiz working? Created attachment 26410 [details]
Xorg log attached as requested.
Kernel version: 2.6.30-7-server
Compiz worked as of driver version 2.7.1
Other system information: Chipset: Intel G35 System architecture: i686 X server version: 1.6.1.901 Mesa version: 7.4.1 Motherboard model: Intel DG35EC Display connector: VGA Looks like NOTABUG to me: (EE) intel(0): [drm] Failed to detect GEM. Kernel 2.6.28 required. Cheers, Julien Your distribution kernel appears to have GEM disabled for some reason. If it's PAE, there are fixes upstream to enable GEM on PAE now. But 2.7.99.* does not provide 3D support without GEM. Fixed in newer versions of the Intel driver and the Linux kernel. |
