Please upload your xorg log file with modedebug option on as attachment. thanks Ma Ling pls refer to http://intellinuxgraphics.org/how_to_report_bug.html for how to file a bug... And, is this a regression, i.e. Has it ever worked before? It actually works with 2.6.3 and KMS enabled. 2.6.3 with KMS disabled and versions >= 2.7 (both with KMS enabled and disabled) still produce black screens only, will attach more debug output for those. Unfortunately trying to boot 2.6.30-rc* on the machine causes an instant reboot (probably not related to the graphics chip), so I can't run intel_gpu_dump 2.7.0 with ModeDebug and without KMS causes a crash Backtrace: 0: /usr/bin/X(xorg_backtrace+0x37) [0x812f2e7] 1: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//intel_drv.so [0xb7c906c8] 2: /usr/bin/X(InitOutput+0x50a) [0x80a824a] Fatal server error: Caught signal 11. Server aborting [Chances are it looked like a black screen before because of problems switching back from graphics mode to text mode] 2.7.0 with KMS crashes with a different (and seemingly totally useless) backtrace 0: /usr/bin/X(xorg_backtrace+0x37) [0x812f2e7] 2.7.99.1 behaves like 2.7.0 Created attachment 25588 [details]
xorg.conf
I use latest driver, 2.7.99 and compiled with modedebug option succesfully. Could you please answer the Michael's question on comments #2, "Has it ever worked before?" If yes, would you please like doing git bisec on your machine to find which version introduced this regression? Thanks Ma Ling (In reply to comment #3) > It actually works with 2.6.3 and KMS enabled. > > 2.6.3 with KMS disabled and versions >= 2.7 (both with KMS enabled and > disabled) still produce black screens only, will attach more debug output for > those. > > Unfortunately trying to boot 2.6.30-rc* on the machine causes an instant reboot > (probably not related to the graphics chip), so I can't run intel_gpu_dump > 2.6.3+KMS works, 2.7.0+KMS fails - I assume you are using the same kernel during these testing, right? If so, would you be able to help doing some bi-sect? it might provide us some hints.. (II) intel(0): Output configuration: (II) intel(0): Pipe A is off (II) intel(0): Display plane B is now disabled and connected to pipe B. (II) intel(0): Pipe B is on (II) intel(0): Display plane A is now enabled and connected to pipe B. (II) intel(0): Output VGA is connected to pipe none (II) intel(0): Output LVDS is connected to pipe B if (!pI830->use_drm_mode) I830SwapPipes(pScrn); ping ~ Bernhard, I have a Acer Aspire One, could you pls point me a url to get the distribution you use for reproducing this bug? no response from bug reporter for long time over one month, so close it now. |
