this is the new xorg.conf I tried to get the 2nd DVI output enabled.
Does this happen only with X, or including BIOS/kernel startup phase? When you say "2nd DVI not recognized", do you mean that DVI always doesn't work even with another DVI disconnected, or this only happens when both DVIs connected? You can use a normal (or even empty) xorg.conf for the experiment instead of the attached special one. I plugged both DVI's into 2 monitors, and only the 1st DVI was recognized by X. The 2nd one appears to not be there. Xorg log file without a conf file with ADD2 card installed and connected to monitors
(In reply to comment #4) > I haven't tried with just the 2nd DVI connected. Could you try this? I'm suspecting if this DVI port is broken in hardware. Sorry, I meant to update sooner. I tried a fresh boot with only the 2nd DVI port connected to boot and the BIOS did not initialize the the monitor. If this is the only monitor connected is it supposed to init? It was brand new and sealed in the box. I haven't tried installing it in another Intel board yet, but I may try that next, if I can get hold of one. Created attachment 17714 [details]
Windows XP Diagnostics
Since XP on a different intel motherboard (DG31PR) doesn't see the the second port of the card either I'm going to blame the card and follow up with the vendor. Thanks for the help and sorry for the bug. I have a Dual DVI ADD2 card, and shares the same pain as you. I haven't had time to complain it with the vendor, but I'll definitely be interested to your follow up with the vendor. Thanks. |
