ivtv is the common name used to define the Hauppauge PVR series of cards and
their variations. These are basically TV Tuner card + MPEG2 encoding +
Framebuffer, offering all needed capabilities to make homemade PVR (Personnal
Video Recorder), like tivo. As an example, see the mythtv and freevo project.

Altough normal framebuffer driver can be used, an enhanced ivtv driver has bee
written for Xfree86, but can probably be incorporated as well into x11-xorg.

That was a really old bug ... so old that I completely forgot about it.

At that time, there was no modular xorg-x11 and the norm was still xfree86 (IIRC).

Since, the development of ivtv driver evolved a lot and there's even a clean modular driver at http://ivtvdriver.org/. It's even integrated in some distributins (gentoo).

I let you see if it should be integrated into xorg-x11 official tree, but I don't think so.
