Description Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2006-08-29 14:28:48 UTC
email: tatar.iqtelif.i18n@gmail.com

I'd like to check-in keyboard layout and localizations based on a version of
Tatar (Qazan and possibly Crimean) Latin alphabet. Only i18n stuff is planned
for now.

Comment 4 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2006-08-29 14:46:36 UTC
FYI: Tatar is a Turkic language. Qazan and Crimean are very close (dialects
really), but apparently for political reasons, have different language codes.
Crimean is crh, and there are lot of Crimean Tatars in Turkey, along with native
land in Crimea, Ukraine. Qazan Tatar is tt, and again there is big population in
Turkey and other countries, along w/ about 1/4th of Tatars in Tatarstan.
Comment 5 Daniel Stone 2007-02-27 01:33:23 UTC
Sorry about the phenomenal bug spam, guys. Adding xorg-team@ to the QA contact so bugs don't get lost in future.
Comment 6 Benjamin Close 2008-01-21 15:56:29 UTC
Can Anyone confirm this request?
Comment 7 Benjamin Close 2008-02-11 17:15:04 UTC
With the age of this bug and the lack of confirmation, this bug is being closed unfixed. If you believe this should not be the case, please find a fd.o member to support your account request then reopen this bug.
Comment 8 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2008-02-25 22:36:07 UTC
Re-opening.
Sorry it took me a while to get back. I understand the desire to reduce the bug backlog, but it doesn't appear quite right to close a bug after 3 weeks of not hearing from me, given that, as was also indicated earlier, there's been no action taken on it for over a year.
Originally, i followed the instructions at http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/AccountRequests, or its equivalent at the time.
Please let me know if anything else is needed from me.
Comment 9 Daniel Stone 2008-02-26 01:27:45 UTC
Er, we'd asked Sergey to approve about four months before the bug was closed.
Comment 10 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2008-02-26 11:40:03 UTC
Sorry for overlooking that bug.

i18n stuff is managed by the Translation Project - you do not need the CVS access for it (I do not accept .po files directly these days). Do you have other uses of CVS access in mind?
Comment 11 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2008-02-26 22:51:07 UTC
I intended to start with keyboard layouts, which involves, for instance, base.xml. I do not expect .po contributions in the near future.
If i understand Daniel correctly, there's been some kind of motion to approve.

Ok, I do not mind then. Just a wish - first several patches, could you please run them by me?

Thanks

Cool, look like everyone's ok with this account being created.. but what username do you want?
Comment 16 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2008-03-09 22:21:07 UTC
How about i notify you guys of the first couple of check-ins? In the unlikely event of something being really wrong, the changes can be reverted.

Thanks.

How about the following username: tatar.

P.S. Alternatively, we could make something out of my legal name, etc.

Thanks.

Comment 19 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2008-05-03 07:58:52 UTC
I tried IRC, but didn't get any feedback, so it appears the best course of action is to re-open this bug.

Folks, please check annarchy for my username, tatar. I'm unable to login, despite updating my password a dozen times using the email interface. I always get:
debug2: we sent a publickey packet, wait for reply
debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey,keyboard-interactive
debug2: we did not send a packet, disable method

I get that even for the public key for which i'm successfully able to do passwordless login between 2 other machines.
The only thing i had to do is putting the public key to authorized_keys on the remote box, which apparently doesn't even need to be world-readable.

Instead of 3 lines above, i get the following for passwordless login that i set up myself:
debug2: we sent a publickey packet, wait for reply
debug1: Server accepts key: pkalg ssh-dss blen 434

Of course i don't have any control of what's on the server, so i'm at a loss here. There's obviously something missing on annarchy.

P.S. Just in case, i'm also updating the ssh key here. I can update it using email interface, and have done that many times, but attaching it just in case someone felt it's more reliable to set the public key manually. After all, i still can't login.

last attempted ssh public key.

In case we feel it's more reliable than the email interface.
Comment 21 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2008-05-03 08:28:35 UTC
Just in case: i've read in bug 12172, that someone had a similar issue because there weren't in the shadow file. This may be causing my issue as well.
Comment 22 Benjamin Close 2008-05-12 04:37:16 UTC
Fixed!
Comment 23 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2008-05-22 23:01:50 UTC
I'm grateful to Benjamin for getting this to work last week.
Unfortunately, the auth re-org (dss key removal, in particular) performed last week has made my account not work anymore. I've updated my account w/ an rsa key, but now always get a password prompt, which is what Benjamin had fixed before the re-org.
I tried #freedesktop, but no avail so far. I'm re-opening this bug, hoping that might speed up the troubleshooting of this issue.

Latest post-auth-re-org public key.

In case manual updates are trusted more than email interface. I am not sure if manual updates were made before re-org to get my account working.
Comment 25 Benjamin Close 2008-06-26 22:36:12 UTC
Hi tatar, ok, let try and get this working for you again. First off what git repositories do you need access too? (ie can you list which ones based on what's listed in: http://cgit.freedesktop.org)

Comment 27 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2008-07-23 08:52:09 UTC
I'd like to start w/ xkeyboard-config. I think it's not in git.

P.S. Hi, i've switched to other things lately, sorry for taking time to respond.
Comment 28 Benjamin Close 2008-07-28 07:28:36 UTC
Ok, I've added you to a group which should allow you to login and create a local git repo in your home directory and manually added the last rsa key you send me. Give that a shot and let me know how it goes.
  Cheers,
    Benjamin
Comment 29 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2008-08-10 23:06:16 UTC
I tried logging on: having the same issue as on 05/03:

debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey,keyboard-interactive
debug1: Next authentication method: publickey
debug1: Trying private key: /home/rsa/.ssh/identity
debug1: Offering public key: /home/rsa/.ssh/id_rsa
debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey,keyboard-interactive
debug1: Trying private key: /home/rsa/.ssh/id_dsa
debug1: Next authentication method: keyboard-interactive
Password:

You got it working once after that, but then it broke down again w/ re-org.
Comment 30 Benjamin Close 2008-08-12 06:21:11 UTC
Hmm, this is very strange, please confirm your public/private rsa key are correct and send me your rsa pub key again

The public key in the latest attachment is what i've been trying.
Maybe i should try a new one, but i've done that several times to no avail.
Comment 33 Benjamin Close 2008-12-07 21:51:48 UTC
Confirmed via personal email, account is all working.
Comment 34 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2009-01-24 21:09:58 UTC
I was unable to push an xkeyboard-config contribution from local repo to remote:

$ git push origin

fatal: failed to write object
unpack unpacker exited with error code
ng refs/heads/master n/a (unpacker error)
error: failed to push to 'ssh://git.freedesktop.org/git/xkeyboard-config'

Does this mean something is wrong with my account's permissions?

I'd appreciate your feedback.
Comment 35 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2009-01-24 21:58:03 UTC
If absence of home folder on @anarchy is any indication, something IS wrong with my account (whether it affects push to remote or not):

Could not chdir to home directory /home/tatar: No such file or directory

I have also tried explicitly specifying the username for clone (and push), and got the same error:
updating 'refs/heads/master'

I've also tried a dummy commit with only a trivial change in a single file, ChangeLog, (w/o any UTF-8 characters), and no UTF-8 characters in --author on the commit command line. Same result.

Something must really screwed up about that account, possibly write permissions, or absence of home folder on git repo box (if it's used for temporary files, etc.).

P.S. And i' really curious how things like absence of home folder @annarchy could have happened.
Comment 37 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2009-01-25 12:36:52 UTC
Some typo clrifications to last comment:
...

Something must BE really ...

P.S. And i'M really ...
Comment 38 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2009-01-28 22:57:45 UTC
git push origin
continues to fail, even on trivial commit attempts with 1-line update in TODO file.

From some search results, i gather this issue is caused by the back-end settings, probably permissions, as the error message mentions.
Comment 39 Benjamin Close 2009-01-28 23:18:49 UTC
Fixed, seems xkeyboard-config is in a different group than expected. This was causing your permission denied issue. I've also fixed your missing home directory on anarchy
Comment 40 Reşat SABIQ (Reshat) 2009-01-29 21:35:20 UTC
The account indeed appears to be functional.

FYI: I have just checked in the updates for bug 19730.

Thanks.
