Problem description:
Different display of formulas in libreoffice and exported pdf. pdf is much prettier. Both symbols and sometimes also positions change. Since pdf is prettier this is usually not a problem, but i wanted to use impress to do the defending of my master thesis...

Steps to reproduce:
1. create formula somewhere
2. look at ugly symbols
3. export pdf
4. look at pdf
5. see pretty symbols

Current behavior: see steps and files

Expected behavior: same symbols in pdf and view

Operating System: Windows 8
Version: 4.1.3.2 release
Comment 1 o-weh1 2013-12-15 14:45:57 UTC
might be connected to Bug 62455
Comment 2 o-weh1 2013-12-15 14:50:55 UTC
Bug 60268 also seems to have the same problem
Comment 3 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2013-12-21 23:37:53 UTC
Not reproducible for me under Ubuntu 13.10 x86-64.

Perhaps an anti-aliasing problem on W8 ?

Best regards. JBF

NoRepro:4.2.0.1:OSX

Assuming this is windows only, since not reproducible on Linux nor OSX.

Is this bug still valid / reproducible with the latest pre-release 4.2.0.1: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

Should this be still reproducible for you with the latest LO release please set this bug back to UNCONFIRMED. Should this issue be solved set it to WORKSFORME.

Setting to NEEDINFO until more detail is provided.

Still doesn't work. Behaviour stays exactly the same.

I don't reproduce using LO 4.1.3.2 or LO 4.3.0.0.alpha0+ & Windows 7 Home Premium.
It is a Windows 8 issue.
Your attachment show you are using Calibri font for operators.
So using lim, liminf, limsup, sum, prod, coprod, int, iint, iiint, lint, llint, lllint, should raise this problem.

Can you verify, in the formula editor, in Format > Fonts, if you display :

Variables : Times New Roman, italic
 Functions : Times New Roman
 Numbers : Times New Roman
 Text : Times New Roman

 Serif : Times New Roman
 Sans : Arial
 Fixed : Courier New

Can you also tell which default font is used, when you open a new document? Is it Times New Roman or Calibri?

Thank you very much for your answer,

Jacques

An easier way to show the problem, perhaps.
In Writer, copy the next formula:
f(t)=int from size*1.5 0 to 1 left[g(t')+sum from i=1 to N h_i(t')right]
and send us a view of what is displayed.

Kind regards,

Jacques

reproducible with LO 4.1.4.2 (Win8) -> see the Pi character itself and above and below of the Pi character
Comment 9 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2014-01-01 21:59:59 UTC
No answer to questions from Jacques. Set status back to NEEDINFO.

Please, _show_ the problem. Saying that the problem is visible does not help very much.

Best regards. JBF

Proposed test formula with proposed fonts

Tested the proposed formula with the proposed font. Default fonts seem to be "Liberation"

Thanks o-weh1,

But your screenshot come from LO 4.2 and you experiment an other bug, already fixed. You can change this behavior by:
Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > Formatting Aids:
In Layout assistance, uncheck Math baseline alignment. This will allow to work correctly.
You can also wait the next version (coming soon, two or three days), where this issue is fixed.
I importune you no longer. I hope somebody will help you to find a good version to work.

Kind regards,

Jacques

Comment 14 victor.martinez.moll 2014-11-19 17:30:14 UTC
Hi all,

I have exactly the same problem.
I'm using Version: 4.3.2.2 under Windows 8.1.

Just two samples:

int x_i

{x_i} underbrace {this is it}

Particularly the second one is completely unreadable under Libreoffice, although it looks perfect when exported to PDF or the file is saved and the opened on a Linux box.
