Steps to reproduce

1. Open (e.g.) Word 2010.
2. Select "DejaVu Sans", no italic, no bold, 10pt
3. Write "åäö".

Largely, the issue is the same as in bug 7224 - at certain pixel sizes, diacritics rendering is less than optimal.
