This bug I'm guessing is a dupe of #41059. It likely also needs to have the phantom HDMI1 output quirked off or something. But the interesting bit is that this user narrowed the regression to occurring between kernels 2.6.38-8.42 → good, 2.6.39-0.5 → bad He also confirmed it is still happening with a daily upstream kernel (ubuntu mainline ppa) from 201108310919.
