different drivers cause strange failures. The Intel 815 driver causes a blue
border w/ wrapped test in the virtual terminals once x is started. The Intel
865G shows blank screens once X is started in the terminals. Both Intels seem
to have normally functioning GUIs. The mga causes distortion in both the GUI in
terminals. The terminal failure is similar to intels, but the GUI is effected in
major distortions. With the cyberblade card, users see a white screen once the
server is started.
This problem seems to be triggered when using gcc4 to compile xorg-x11.
Replacing libvgahw.a seems to correct the problem if the binary is pulled from a
gcc32 compiled version for a slew of users. This is just a quick fix, but not a
long term solution.
I'm a user and do not compile a lot and do few code changes. This is just a
starting point to explain the latest problem details.

vgaHW seems to be responsible for this problem above most factors.
