The difficulty I have here is that your are comparing apples to oranges and declaring one is better than the other. If you were to use the current driver with the old desktop, how does it compare then? The description makes me believe that the Tripple Buffering introduced in 2.15.0 will alleviate the symptoms. |

Created attachment 45623 [details] Xorg.0.log Bug description: I used to play 720p videos with compiz enabled on a large Sony BRAVIA TV screen (1280x720) via VGA cable with Fedora 12, but with Fedora 14 I have to shut off all desktop effects to make playback smooth. The difference can also be seen on the laptop display if rotating the 3D cube. System environment: -- chipset: Intel 945GSE UMA -- system architecture: 32-bit (i686) -- xf86-video-intel: 2.12.0 -- xserver: 1.9.5 -- mesa: 7.9 -- libdrm: 2.4.24 -- kernel: 2.6.35.11-83.fc14.i686 -- Linux distribution: Fedora 14 -- Machine or mobo model: Dell Inspiron mini 10v (1011) -- Display connector: VGA Reproducing steps: 1. Play a 720p video with compiz enabled on Dell mini 10v with Fedora 12 and Fedora 14 (mplayer -vo xv) or 1. Turn on compiz and try rotating the 3D cube on Dell mini 10v with F14 to see the picture freezing slightly Additional info: I ran glxgears and saw that FPS goes down to 30 some with compiz enabled.
