If you've got the capability try and compile the CVS and give that a try. Oh, and it might be worth attaching a log from /var/log/Xorg.0.log when the Xserver crashes so I can determine what's causing it. Have you had chance to try CVS, or even attach a log file ?? Closing. Re-open when you can provide more information. More information required. Marking INVALID. Created attachment 3015 [details]
Xorg.0.log.6.8.2
Here is a copy of the Xorg.0.log file after X crashes and then restarts
continuously.
Sorry I took so long to get back, I was out of town and away from my computer for a couple of weeks. I have reproduced the bug here again, and attached a crash log. The way X is crashing is that it first fails when playing a video, and then restarts continuously. The log file I have sent is from after it starts looping. I will try to get one for the first crash here this afternoon, but it might be difficult. I have not been able to try the cvs version. Created attachment 3016 [details]
Xorg.0.log.modularx.fail
starting with the 6.8.99.14 snapshot, on linux systems, the X server can print its own backtrace when it crashes. please confirm that these bugs are still valid with 6.8.99.14 or later, and if they are please attach a the server log from the crash. You could also try my replacement video driver at http://www.fairlite.demon.co.uk/intel.html and see if that cures your problem. I'm pretty sure the driver on my homepage will fix your Xv related issues as it has for many others. If it doesn't re-open this bug with a log file from that driver. Closing. |
