Seems like it is not specific to font glyph rendering.
Certainly comment 4 is fixed now, so I can optimistically presume the earlier bug has also been... Comment 4 is not completely fixed yet. Although it is harder (but possible) to reproduce in nautilus, it's still easily producible in many other applications. I'll attach a screenshot of Aptana, having the same issue.
