Description Thomas Richard 2010-09-07 12:16:19 UTC
I initially filed my bug report here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/624152

However it got closed there because i'm not using the telepathy-butterfly, empathy and papyon version included in ubuntu 10.04.

After a while i can't chat anymore with empathy using MSN. I never noticed this behaviour with the stack included in ubuntu 10.04. It started happening after i upgraded my packages using the telepathy ppa. Initially i thought it had something to do with changing my status. It seems to happen randomly. When i do change my status alot, it seems to happen faster though.

I know this bug report doesn't include the needed details. I've got no idea on how to provide more useful information though.

Empathy version 2.30.2
Telepathy-butterfly 0.5.13-1
Papyon version 0.5.0

When the behavior does happen, please copy paste the log from the debug window (Help->Debug and then select butterfly in the drop down).

Also I noticed that sometimes telepathy-logger is blocking the messages, so try to kill it ("killall telepathy-logger") and see if that helps.

Thank you

Can this have something to do with it? (See attachment)

That log seems pretty normal to me, was you trying to send a message during that time ?

I mailed you the full log as it contains email addresses.

It seems alot harder to trigger the bug when I'm actively trying to (of course :p). I'll check if there is process called telepathy-logger when it happens again.
