Description dvora 2009-09-18 12:19:32 UTC
Current version of packages:
X.Org X Server 1.5.2
Gnome 2.24.1

Level 3 and Level 4 characters, that is AltGr and AltGr+Shift characters are not working on Dvorak, Dvorak-international(dvorak-intl) and Programmer-Dvorak(dvp).
Comment 1 dvora 2009-09-18 12:41:14 UTC
a small correction: problem is only with dvorak and programmer-dvorak, not with dvorak-international.

Does it all work correctly if you explicitly choose the option to use altgr as 3rd level switch? If so, please add the following line to the dvorak section of symbols/us file and check if that fixes the issue for you:

include "level3(ralt_switch)"
Comment 3 Roland Kaufmann 2011-08-03 14:09:03 UTC
For what it is worth, I've tested Programmer Dvorak with -option lv3:ralt_switch and it works, albeit with a different version of the server, not that I think that matters.

It is explicitly designed NOT to include that as default, since many prefers to have a right Alt key instead. I reckon the regular Dvorak is the same, whereas the Intl variant has a different design goal and have thus enabled it in the layout specification.
Comment 4 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2011-08-06 13:21:32 UTC
Well, I think this is NOTABUG, since there is an option - and there is a reason not to change the default behavior
