Description Matt Novenstern 2009-09-13 16:50:50 UTC
When trying to run Savage 2, I get this error:

/usr/local/games/Savage2$ ./savage2.bin
warning: The VAD has been replaced by a hack pending a complete rewrite
savage2.bin: brw_eu.h:174: brw_reg: Assertion `nr < 128' failed.

I've been led to believe that this is either due to the intel driver code in mesa not reporting its render path capabilities correctly, or doing something silly with GLSL.

Kernel: 2.6.31 - i686

libdrm: 2.4.12-1
intel driver: 2.8.1-1
xorg: 1.6.3-1+b1

The problem seems like something that doesn't actually need Xorg.0.log output, in any case nothing comes out except things about changing resolution.

Without all the information requested at http://intellinuxgraphics.org/how_to_report_bug.html we don't know if you're using software that has bugs we've already fixed. For example, I think the error message there was fixed in newer Mesa.

We've got a bug open for shader compile issues in savage2, but not this message. Check #21707 if your bug goes away with newer mesa bug you then run into that bug.

This one appears to be fixed now, superceded by 27028.
