Xorg.0.log with external monitor attached
The log says: [drm] failed to load kernel module "i915" (EE) intel(0): [drm] Failed to open DRM device for Can you check the configuration? I think it's unlikely to be a configuration error in this case, since I had the user test off of a Karmic LiveCD of Alpha-2. Rather, I suspect the issue has more to do with this being an i830 card. I've been noticing a disproportionate number of the people reporting that the latest -intel isn't working are using i830 or other pre-i855 cards. I'm guessing these use a different set of code which simply isn't as well tested? You are right, we don't have 830. (The only 8xx chipset I validate is 855GM) Please attach the full dmesg. dmesg without external monitor attached
The user has confirmed they booted with a stock xorg.conf with no modifications. What does lsmod say? Is i915 loaded? Closing due to feedback timeout. Also, the dmesg doesn't appear to correspond to the Xorg.0.log. |
