I upgraded my laptop to the latest Debian radeon driver and the VGA output stopped working, so I got a copy of the git repository from freedesktop.org and used git bisect to discover the first commit at which is stopped working was "PLL adjustments" (92ee21df344a989778e37369c7beb3904a00ead6). I'll attach a log file for the driver from the previous commit and this one for starting up the server with the VGA output attached.
