When I start X using the Intel driver, I cannot return to the console in any fashion: neither by switching virtual terminal nor by quitting X.  The monitor simply says "Out of Range" in these cases.  Note that I can try to switch to the console, and switch back to X, and X continues to work.

Debian "testing" kernel 2.6.26 amd64 with self-compiled intel X drivers v 2.4.2.  xorg server 7.3.

I just installed the Gigabyte G43 chipset motherboard: GA-EG43M-S2H.
