Description reid 2004-09-21 22:34:02 UTC
Whenever I try to run startx the computer screen flashes a box which says "not
optimum mode:" "recommended mode: 1280x1024 60Hz" and continues to display
this for infinity. Please help. I also have my monitor set at those exact
settings so I do not know what the problem could be, thanks.

I can confirm this bug. I'm owning an acer LCD which requires 1280x1024@75HZ (or
60HZ). Examining the log files of both, nv and nvidia (proprietary), shows that
both driver choose the same modeline (same hsync, same vsync). Nonetheless, the
monitor blanks and shows the "please switch to 1280x1024@75HZ" message.

I'm supplying Option "FlatPanel" to nv (free driver), the monitor is also
"POSTed" by the BIOS (as required according to nv's man page).
