dell latitude l400's ati rage p/m (mach64) 
also after moving(alt+f7 in icewm) mplayer video playback window x.org hangs on, just a mouse cursor stays active
only hardware reset help
system is slackware-current

Do you still have this issue on a newer xserver? If so, can you provide your xorg.conf and xorg.log?
