Description Miguel Mayol Tur 2007-09-30 13:30:08 UTC
My video card is a Asus X800 EE, that usually works with fglrx drivers, and not with vga or ati ones, but yes with fglrx, this time, even fglrx fails.

i was using Sabayon (gentoo precompiled) and the auto X configuration was perfect, monitor, fglrx, keyboard, mouse, exact models.

i'm triying to install Archlinux because pacman is better than portage, and in text mode, it seems OK, after installin gnome kde and fglrx.

i had to install keyboard, mouse, and drivers files as archlinux wiki says.

But I have an error message whre says that the driver do not support AXGL.

I would like a installer for Xorg as automatic as Sabayon is, with confirmations for errors detecting hardware, and avalaibility to choose others.

I think that xorgcfg and xorgconfig are very similar to 1991 Xconfigurator, and today, as many distributions has improved this, and are open source, this automatic configurators would be added, at least as an option for making easier to configure devices.

Last year I installed some ATI cards with Ubuntu, and I had to install with vi, editing the cfg because ati driver did not work, and it had to be changed by fglrx.

Thanks for your work.

Closing as INVALID; fglrx no longer supports your chipset. If you have similar problems with the radeon driver, please check to see if there is already an existing bug before opening a new one.
