Description Leoncio Juan Ernesto López (Cholo) 2007-09-12 13:03:57 UTC
Using the ati driver with an "ATI Technologies Inc Rage XL".

Everything works perfectly until it suddenly freezes. The machine stops responding to ping, or anything. I have no idea what may be causing it, but I suspect it may be related to this machine being multi-core.

The machine is an server model Intel Xeon (two cores w/HT each, i.e. linux sees 4 processors)

Some more info: (will attach xorg.log)

X Window System Version 1.3.0
Release Date: 19 April 2007
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 1.3
Build Operating System: Linux Debian (xorg-server 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-12)
Current Operating System: Linux behemoth 2.6.22-1-686 #1 SMP Sun Jul 29 14:37:42 UTC 2007 i686
Build Date: 09 August 2007

The system is a not-so-up-to-date debian sid.

I'll need some guidance as to what kind of info to provide. Maybe there's a core dump around somewhere, but I don't know.

Is this still a problem?

Mass closure: This bug has been untouched for more than six years, and is not
obviously still valid. Please reopen this bug or file a new report if you continue to experience issues with current releases.
