GPU crash dump

Recently, my laptop has started freezing the display for around 5 seconds.

This is extremely frustrating as I've owned this laptop for more than 3 years now and this has not happened before. Why is the software getting worse?

Anyway, after such an event, the following appears in dmesg:

[ 8463.247217] i915 0000:00:02.0: GPU HANG: ecode 9:0:0x00000000, hang on rcs0
[ 8463.247218] [drm] GPU hangs can indicate a bug anywhere in the entire gfx stack, including userspace.
[ 8463.247218] [drm] Please file a _new_ bug report on bugs.freedesktop.org against DRI -> DRM/Intel
[ 8463.247219] [drm] drm/i915 developers can then reassign to the right component if it's not a kernel issue.
[ 8463.247219] [drm] The gpu crash dump is required to analyze gpu hangs, so please always attach it.
[ 8463.247220] [drm] GPU crash dump saved to /sys/class/drm/card0/error
[ 8463.248228] i915 0000:00:02.0: Resetting rcs0 for hang on rcs0

This happened again shortly after, with just the below in dmesg:

[ 8685.113116] i915 0000:00:02.0: Resetting rcs0 for hang on rcs0

I've attached the crash dump as requested in the dmesg output.

I'm running Archlinux on a Thinkpad T460. The kernel version is: 5.3.12-arch1-1. I have a monitor attached on the display port.

This is the lspci output for my graphics card:

Please let me know if I can help or provide further information as I would like to see this fixed.

Thanks.

Can you try to reproduce the issue with drm-tip kernel? (https://cgit.freedesktop.org/drm-tip)
