Description Serge van den Boom 2007-06-04 19:14:43 UTC
Using xkeyboard-config from CVS from 2007-06-05.

Using 'setxkbdmap -option grp:alts_toggle', the left ALT key generates Alt_L on key down, but ISO_Prev_Group on key up.

The right ALT key generates ISO_Level3_Shift on key down and no symbol on key up.

The result is that applications such as Wine will not notice the release of the left ALT key, and the right ALT key does not work at all.

Unless I'm terribly mistaken, the left ALT key should generate Alt_L both on key down and key up, and the right ALT key should generate Alt_R both on key down and key up, as they do when grp:alts_toggle is not used.

The problem with the right ALT is a recent one; with the key map that came with X11R7.1, key down generated Alt_R as normal, but on key up ISO_Next_Group (so the same problem as for Alt_L).

Is it still the case? If so, could you please provide full xkb configuration you're using?
